A true cautionary tale of bullies and enablers in girls’ soccer, and the lessons we’ve learned along the way

We truly thought we had found our soccer family. Everyone was on the same wavelength. It seemed to be a good match for all of us: the parents shared a sense of humor and hung out often during those long tournament weekends as the soccer girls and their siblings bonded too. I am somewhat of an introvert and mostly keep it to myself, but I felt comfortable around the other soccer parents. Above all, I felt safe. I could already see my daughter growing up with her teammates, sharing the excitement and anguish her teenage years would inevitably have in store for her.
